The Web Experiment - 28 days

First of all, sorry about my English, i lived at Spain for 3 years and i forgot many things.

This the first post about the results of my Blog, and my intention is to share my perceptions with the fellows bloggers.

Why 28 days? Because not to wait 1 month? The only special reason is that the 30th day is on Saturday and i normally dedicated full time period to my family. So, this post hardly could be written on this day.

Let´s start!

I create this blog with the objective of trying 3 core topics:

1 - Ways to make extra money online
2 - Ways to increase the popularity of a Web Site
3 - Search Engine Optimization

The first topic, my intention is to find ways to make extra money online. The first thing i put at my blog was a Adsense Widget, i know that today my blog has other ways to be monetized, like AuctionAds and other advertising programs, but the Google Adsense was the only one my blog uses during the whole period of 28 days.

Well, i earned the total of U$ 1.63 during 28 days, i do not know, and i´d like very much to know the point of view of the fellow bloggers, because i think it is NOTHING.

But i think it may be my fault because, the content of the Blog is minimal, and i am so sorry about that. The reason is that i have been focused at the structural part of the Blog and forgot the essential part, the content. Now, i am trying to send one post a day.

I almost forget, i am reading the John Chow ebook, “Make Money On-Line”, that is a incredible book, with valuable tips. I am trying to follow this book, step by step, of course i skip some important ones, as having my own domain name, the use of Wordpress and others, but first, this blog is a experiment and i intend to have my own domain soon. I have to say thanks to John again, for this wonderful ebook, i´ve already did it, through the message board of MyBlogLog.

I think, i will be able to say more about this topic on the next month. Let´s go to the second.

I have been read about a plenty of techniques to increase the traffic and the popularity of a Web Site, of course that, in a case of a Blog is about to post interesting things for the audience, things that the crowds are looking for. But, first thing i done was to get my blog registered on the major blogs directories. Here is the ones i got my blog registered:

BlogCatalog
MyBlogLog
BlogListings
BlogHub
BlogRankings
Bloggernity

Are there another important one that i forget?

Among these Blog directories, BlogCatalog and MyBlogLog, are the one that most are contributing to the audience of my Blog.

I start to use the Google Analytics tool on June 22, and here is the audience graph after 6 days of using it.

Please, let me know if it is a good statistic for 6 days! I need some comments here to benchmark.
100 visits and 4,451 pageviews? what do they mean? Each visitor view my page 445,1 times?! Excuse moi, if i said sounds stupid, sorry, i am still a dummy on this topic.

Taking a look at the Google Analytics Glossary:
“Pageview: A pageview is an instance of a page being loaded by a browser”
“Visit: A period of interaction between a visitor’s browser and a particular website, ending when the browser is closed or shut down, or when the user has been inactive on that site for a specified period of time. For the purpose of Google Analytics reports, a session is considered to have ended if the user has been inactive on the site for 30 minutes. You can update this setting with an addition to our tracking code”

Well, my conclusion, based upon the Google Glossary is Logical. Please, i need some expert comment here.

Another thing that i tried to catch the crowds, is getting the Alexa Rank to my page. Well, i registered the page on Alexa web site, got and install the search tool for Firefox, and place the widget on my blog, so my blog is the number 16!!!! AMAZING! I am rich?!

Of course not, a fellow Blogger, Chris Merriman, helps me with the follow comment on the DoshDosh Blog.
He explains that as my blog is new, still lacks to have a minimum traffic so that the Alexa starts to show the real statistics. Ok, i can accept that, i will waiting…
And you my fellow blogger, did you take the same wrong, but nice, statistics from Alexa at the beginning?

Yesterday, i started with AllPosters, Digg and StumbleUpon, and i think i will get some traffic from them. Tomorrow, i will start with TextLinkAds and PayPerPost, i will really expect to post the results of this actions next month. If some one can give a feedback about the use of these sites, i will appreciate that.

Ok, let´s start our third topic, “Search Engine Optimization”, i few days ago, when i heard about “SEO”, i immediately think in “CEO” (chief executive officer). SORRY!

Ok, i bought the SeoBook of Aaron Wall, that´s a great book, covers everything, but i think it is so advanced for my dummy actual stage, so i decide to apply the book as soon as i obtain more knowledge about this topic. But i do not stay with no action, i found a practical ebook, SEO-Made Easy Guide of Brad Callen, for free, it is very easy to understand, and it has many examples to follow. (you can download here). I think i get that at the link,Top 10 SEO Countdown & Resource Vault at the blog Make Money Online The Quick and Easy Way!, this is a excellent blog of making money.

Well, i have started with this eBook, and i am follow its recommendations, i download a free trial of the SEO ELITE, and start my research about:

• The best title to use at my Page
• The best keywords
• Using the link strategy of the main competitors
• Found the contacts of the pages that i will be linking on mine
• Sending e-mail to these contacts, telling them that i put a link of their sites on my blog, and if they can put mine (Link Exchange)

The best thing, is that SEO ELITE automates all these tasks, saving precious time. I have already done some of that, and i am waiting for the results. I will post very soon.
